Snoring Remedies

Snoring effects a lot of people, but in most cases is not a serious health concern. That being said, a loud snorer can seriously impact their partner’s quality of sleep.  Here are some remedies to help combat one of the most annoying sleep problems:

Change Sleeping Positions

When you sleep on your back your tongue hangs in the back of your throat creating a vibrating noise. To prevent this, adjust your sleeping position and sleep on your side, even if you have to use something (like tennis balls!) to keep you from rolling over.

Say Goodbye to the Nightcap

Alcohol disrupts sleep in a number of ways such as reducing REM sleep. It also reduces the muscle tone in the back of your throat, making snoring more likely to occur.

Open the Nasal Passage

Often, a closed or constricted nasal passage will produce snoring. Open it up with a hot shower, or spray it with a quick burst of salt water.

We like sports strips too!

Change Your Pillows

When is the last time you bought new pillows? Dust mites can accumulate causing allergic reactions, which can lead to snoring. Replace every 6 months to keep allergens and dust mites at bay.
